Consider the implications behind a band whose name is a hybrid between a religious faith + the term for ‘human reproductive organs’. I know what you’re thinking—that’s just wrong, right? But wait--it gets wrong-ger. The three original parts of the Evangenitals--an ex-pro boxer, a “sophisticated lady,” and a secret “ball-hog” (a.k.a. Juli Crockett-guitar/vocals, Lisa Dee-vocals, and Brett Lyda-guitar)--were co-workers at a sex shop (that will remain nameless) in good ‘ol Los Angeles. Years after their (obviously) successful public debut [they played their brand of “hillbilly-truckstop-lullabies” at an open-mic night at Mr. T’s Bowl in Highland Park], the Evangenitals finally found their “skin-beating soulmate,” a.k.a. drummer, George Bernardo, and in 2005 the foursome recorded an album titled “We Are The Evangenitals.”
In recent news: the band has taken on the ardent task of bringing the world together "one-second at a time.” Translation: you can catch them “On The Road To Oprah” with the creators of the (non-profit) 1-Second Film . The road trip’s goal: to go to Oprah’s studio and get her to join the likes of celebrity producers Kiefer Sutherland, Steven Colbert, and Kevin Bacon (to name a few), who have all generously provided funding for their film. But what IS the one second of film, you ask? I went to the website for answers, but the only info I found was that the clip really is only one second long, and it’s followed by 90 minutes of credits that feature enough glitterati to make your peanuts shine. Yay!
At any rate, if you’re lucky enough to catch them on their pilgrimage to Oprah’s studio, maybe the Evangenitals will play their acoustic cover of Outkast’s “Hey Ya!”--a pretty outstanding interpretation of the song, if I do say so myself.
***Celebrity and Corporate producers include Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Jonah Miller, powered by Apple, CalArts, Andy Dick, Tom Green, Tom Arnold, Ben Harper, Metric & Others.
***All proceeds will benefit The Global Fund For Women

Now that I re-read the title of this post, I realize that it's a little bold.
And probably not right.
Here's a repost from my entry @ orphanrecords.org
This video is epic. Don't know who Sparks are? Remember that movie Valley Girl from like 1983? Nicholas Cage played the sexy punk rock boy and the girl who played Dotty in Pee Wee's Big Adventure was the slutty best friend? Ok, good. So remember the part in the movie when that kid goes to this girl's house who has a crush on him, and you think he's going to return her book, but then they make it look like he's boning her mom in the shower, except it turns out that it's really the girl and not the mom? No? Well whatever, the point is that the song playing in the background during that scene is Sparks' 'Eaten By The Monster Of Love.'And it rules. They also have a song called 'Angst In My Pants,' and 'The Fanatic,' both of which also rule.
Good stuff, I tell you.
Back to the matter at hand.
This music video is the title track from their album, 'Lil Beethoven, which, to be honest, is not a spectacular record. But c'mon, seriously guys, how many musicians spend their entire CAREERS trying to make something sound as awesome as awesome as this ONE song?
About a bazillion.
That's a fact.
Just frickin' watch it already.
